Exploring the allure of the furniture in the new SILT Hotel

Dive into the architectural marvel that is the SILT hotel. With furniture supplied by Victors Design Agency the space redefines what contemporary coastal living means.

The prestigious SILT hotel recently opened in Middelkerke, a notable landmark on the North Sea coast of Belgium. SILT, part of the C-hotels group, known for its contemporary coastal properties, also houses Middelkerke’s casino. The striking wood lattice design of this landmark was created by the Dutch architecture firm ZJA, with Delva providing complementary landscape architecture.

Inside, Belgian interior architects TJIP worked harmoniously with Design Oostende to select furnishings that seamlessly integrate contemporary style with the natural beauty surrounding the hotel. Specialist dealer Victors Design Agency supplied the furniture.

Throughout the hotel, guests can discover Carl Hansen & Son’s CH33 chair, by Danish furniture designer Hans J. Wegner, a piece which dates back to 1957. With its light and sculptural design, it is regarded as a masterpiece of form and function. It was originally produced until approximately 1967 before returning to production in 2012 to great acclaim.

The chair’s height, depth and angles are intended to be in complete harmony with the user. It has a beautifully curved backrest made of form-pressed veneer and overall its vibrant appearance is perfect for modern day interiors. The version featured in SILT, with a seat in leather or fabric, offers exceptional comfort and is crafted from non-standard coloured brown oak.

The CUBA Chair, also by Carl Hansen & Son features in the SILT hotel too. This folding lounge chair designed by Morten Gøttler in 1997 embodies Scandinavian modernism and is used in its outdoor version at SILT. Made from untreated FSC™-certified teak with a weather-resistant flat woven rope seat, this chair allows hotel guests to enjoy its comfort both indoors and outdoors, depending on their mood and the weather. It is a perfect combination of exquisite textures, natural materials and practicality.

The SILT hotel invites hotel guests to take in the breathtaking vistas and surrender to the rhythm of the sand dunes and the waves. The interiors, including the careful choice of contemporary Carl Hansen & Son furniture reinforces this feeling of a peaceful retreat by the sea.
